Antonio Stradivari was an Italian stringed instrument maker from Cremona . He principally made violins but he also produced cellos, violas, guitars, and harps. Before Stradivari there was no uniformity in the production of violins. He applied the principles of mathematics particularly a pentagram within a pentagram and the shape of the violin was determined by the intersecting points. His instruments have become the most prized and valuable for their uniqueness of sound which people have been unable to reproduce. He lived to be 98 years old and produced over 1000 instruments, many of which still survive.
