Materials Bronze and wood
This is a portrait of my friend Hilo Chen a photo realist painter of beautiful women. It is done through an image of his work done with photogravure on bronze sheet and several things that were particular to his studio on the Bowery and his way of working. He worked squatting down so the canvas is low to the floor. He stored all his brushes in one of those contraptions that you hang in your closet for shoes and he kept a garbage bag close by that he used for trash and for testing his airbrush before beginning to use it on the canvas. I actually brought the finished wooden bag to his studio so that he could use it and give it some authenticity.
